The meadow circuit above Kletečná: when driving stops being “normal”

The heart of the programme is, as always, the timed race on the “meadow” circuit above Kletečná. But this is not your usual “drive from A to B” – every year AVdíly invent something that completely turns your idea of driving upside down.

From past years you might remember for example:

• A right-hand drive S80 D5 with the throttle and brake pedals swapped
  – the perfect discipline for everyone who claims their feet are “well trained” and nothing can throw them off.

• Cars with reversed steering linkage
  – you turn left, the car goes right. Chaos in your head, laughter on the track, and massive relief at the finish line when it’s finally over.

• Last year’s hit: an XC90 with “ratchet steering”
  – at the start you get a simple ratchet in your hand, you run to the car where there’s just a socket instead of a steering wheel, you snap the ratchet on… and you have to drive the entire meadow circuit using only that ratchet.
  The crowd is roaring with laughter, you’re fighting for every single “click” – and that’s exactly the kind of atmosphere we all love.

Just picture the faces at the finish line – some bright red, some a bit green, but all of them grinning from ear to ear.

Side competitions: when even a trike can go sideways

To make sure the programme isn’t just about one big discipline, AVdíly also prepare side competitions every year. In the past, one of the highlights were for example:

• drift races on motorized trikes – small, loud and insanely fun.
  A mix of sliding, control and total chaos that you simply have to try yourself or at least see live.

Meanwhile, Volvos are parked all around, people are chatting, taking photos, cheering… and just waiting to see who goes crazy next in another discipline.
